May I introduce myself?

My name is Dott.ssa Pia D’Andrea.

As a native Italian speaker and passionate language instructor, I have many years of international experience teaching foreign languages.

After earning my university degree in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures (English, German, Dutch, and Italian for Foreigners) from the renowned Istituto Universitario Orientale in Naples, I lived and worked in the Netherlands for 21 years. Since 2014, Schwerte, Germany, has been my home.

My Teaching Philosophy & Expertise

I take great pleasure in teaching Dutch and Italian at various adult education centers in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, I lead Italian language courses in Campolattaro (Italy) during the summer and have also taught English at the University of Benevento (Unisannio) as well as in the Netherlands.

My course offerings are diverse and adapt flexibly to the needs of my students:

•   Integration and Alphabetization courses: I hold official BAMF certifications for both integration courses and Alphabetization courses.

•   Intercultural Competence: In addition to traditional language instruction, I have gained valuable experience as an integration specialist in school integration and inclusion support.

•   Translation Services: In addition to my teaching work, I work as a translator for various languages (including websites, product descriptions, and contracts in English, Dutch, and Italian).

Modern and Flexible – Online & In-Person

I made the most of the lockdown period to further my training in teaching methods. Thanks to intensive instructor training (including for the VHS Cloud) and continuing education modules in online media literacy, I design modern, interactive online lessons. I am fully experienced and comfortable working with platforms such as Zoom, BigBlueButton (BBB), MS Teams, and Webex.
